This is the property of a material to store electric charge when a potential difference exists between two objects. When a dielectric material is placed between the two objects, its capacitance will increase, allowing it to accumulate and store charge. By placing two conductive layers on either side of the dielectric material and connecting them to a voltage source, a capacitor is formed.When an AC voltage is applied to the capacitor, the capacitor plates will draw current from the AC source. This current will rapidly change direction as the voltage changes, causing the capacitor plates to draw charge from the AC source and store it in the dielectric material. This process is known as capacitor charging.The stored charge will cause the plates to be charged oppositely, generating an effective AC voltage across the capacitor equal to that of the applied AC voltage.
