Application Field and Working Principle of Fuses
Fuses are an important device for protecting electrical equipment by breaking circuits when a current overload or short circuit occurs. The use of fuses instead of circuit breakers is usually suitable for small current ranges, and the implementation of fuse protection requires little capital investment. In addition to protecting electrical circuits, fuses can also be used to limit short circuits and protect the electrical source from damage. In industrial production, slow-acting fuses are usually used as protective devices due to their fast response time, simple design, and stable performance; and are used in circuit breakers, AC switches, and current transformers. The Working Principle of FusesFuses are used to control the current drawn from the main busbar, also known as “limiting current”. The characteristics of current limiting are based on the resistance of the fuse element, which is normally made of a wire with a comparatively large cross-sectional area. This wire is placed in a ceramic body which functions as an insulator and creates a current-limiting circuit that can be triggered to break the circuit under a certain current level. When the load current passes over the fuse element, the element experiences a heating effect due to the resistance of particles in the wire. Eventually, when the current exceeds the pre-set threshold, the heat generated causes the wire to melt, breaking the circuit and thus protecting the electrical source from damage. The melting temperature of a fuse depends on several factors, including the current level, the wire material, and the insulation inside the ceramic body.Application Field of FusesFuses are widely used to protect a variety of electrical devices from overcurrent and overvoltage damage. They are commonly used in household devices, such as audio systems, televisions, and portable radios, and computer devices, such as monitors and CPUs. Fuses are also installed in circuit boards and wiring systems in residential and commercial buildings to protect electrical systems from overloads.Besides protecting electrical devices from overcurrent protection, fuses are also commonly used in automotive electronics and radio frequency (RF) applications, such as car audio installations, mobile phones, and RF amplifiers. In industry, fuses are also commonly used to protect electric circuits in equipment such as elevators, conveyors, and mining machinery. In conclusion, fuses are an important electrical protection device, and they are used in a variety of electrical applications to protect circuits and equipment from damage caused by overcurrent or overvoltage. Fuses are designed to limit current that flows in an electric circuit, and in the event of an overload, the fuse will limit current, which helps to protect the electrical source from damage. The specific data is subject to PDF, and the above content is for reference
