Zener diode is a type of diode whose characteristics are tailor-made for voltage regulation. Zener diode is a kind of two-terminal, nonlinear voltage-regulation component that utilizes the fact that when a current flows into one end of a junction (the zener diode anode terminal), a voltage is produced across the junction. When the voltage across the junction reaches the breakdown voltage of the diode, a large current flows, allowing it to regulate the voltage.The 1N4749A-TP is a 1.8W zener diode.
