Working Principle of the 1N6025D
The 1N6025D is a silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) diode, which means that it is capable of controlling the amount of current that is allowed to pass through it. In essence, the diode is composed of two regions of doped silicon, known as an anode and a cathode. When a voltage is applied to the diode, it allows a reverse current to flow from the cathode to the anode, known as a Zener breakdown. This occurs when the voltage reaches the Zener breakdown voltage of the diode, which is the preferred voltage to operate it.
The 1N6025D can also be used in voltage regulation applications, thanks to its “clamping” behavior. When the voltage reaches the Zener breakdown voltage, the diode begins to conduct reverse current, which in turn “clamps” the voltage level at the Zener breakdown voltage.
