The 1PGSMA4742HM2G is mainly used in different types of voltage-stabilization circuits in which a certain amount of voltage is required to power up voltage-sensitive components. Working Principle

Zener diodes are made from heavily doped silicon which has a high positive charges on the positive side and a large concentration of negative charges on the negative side. This creates a so-called depletion region, or potential barrier. Under reverse voltage, a Zener diode works by allowing a certain amount of current to flow across the depletion region.

When the voltage rises above a certain point, known as the Zener voltage, the depletion region can no longer contain the electric field, and the diode breaks down, allowing a current to pass through.
