The 2009R1BI8.25 is an electrical specialty fuse originally released by Peak Scientific in 2009. It is a single-pole, time-delay, midget-sized, fast-acting fuse, designed to protect electrical circuits in a range of operating temperatures.

Applications

The 2009R1BI8.25 fuse is used for many different applications, including motor-starting circuits, essential general-purpose circuits, computer- and electronic-control equipment, and general-service wiring circuits. It can also be used for circuit protection on industrial or commercial wiring and commercial equipment motors. In addition, it can be used on fire pumps, fans, or special appliances such as air conditioners or refrigerators.

Working Principle

The 2009R1BI8.25 is a strike lightning type fuse that utilizes a bi-metal element which operates by natural or forced convection when exposed to heat. The fuse opens or cuts off the power supply when the temperature rises and reaches a point at which the bimetal element is melted and contacts are separated. The time and current at which this happens depends on the fuse\'s resistance, as well as the surrounding temperature.

The 2009R1BI8.25 is made of a zinc core which is strong and has a low melting point, an insulating jacket which provides stability and fire resistance, and a hard-wire reset which enables safe and efficient reset operations. When the developing overload current increases to above the fuse’s rating, a short-circuit current flows through its resistance which heats up the metal-core resistance wire. When the resistance of the fuse heats up to the required temperature, it causes the fuse to open or trip.
