Gas Discharge Tube Arresters (GDT)
Gas discharge tube arrester (GDT) is a device used for protecting electrical circuits appointed during short depending spikes or electrical transients, usually during switching events or lightning strikes. It can be used for protecting equipments like transformers, circuit breakers, generators and so on in three phase and single phase AC circuits. GDT works based on the ability of gas discharge tubes to absorb the sudden and intense energy caused by a short or transient. GDT like 2095-250-BLF consists of a gas discharge tube and a spark gap. The spark gap has a threshold voltage.
