Rectangular Connectors, namely Headers and Male Pins, are designed according to the standard IEC 60950-1 and are used to connect two electronic devices without any direct contact between them. The most commonly used type of connector is the male pin header, which is designed to fit into a specific type of female socket header. This type of connector is often used in applications such as computers, audio/visual, instrumentation, medical, automotive and military.

The 2163-31-02-P2 is a reliable and robust modular rectangular connector. It features 16 gold-plated contacts in the form of double-ended pins, each with 9.5mm centerline spacing for higher power density and greater flexibility when designing cable assemblies. Each pin has a contact diameter of 2.00mm and a current rating of 2.0A and can be used with wire gauges of 26-30AWG for low current applications, 36-36AWG for moderate current applications and 40/42 AWG for high current applications. The connector’s ambient operating temperature range is from -40°C to +85°C and the dielectric strength is 1500V AC.
