The 21EN37-6B is designed primarily for switching applications involving variably and remotely adjustable speed, direction and temperature. It is used where the desired control requires accurate temperature and speed settings. Typical applications include compressed air, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electric motors, generators and various types of engines and pumps.
The 21EN37-6B limit switch is actuated by a temperature sensing element, which is located inside a thermally insulated air compartment. The sensing element detects the temperature of the air inside the compartment, and when the preset temperature is reached, the switch will activate. The temperature can be adjusted over a range of 0 to 125 degrees Celsius.
The 21EN37-6B limit switch works in the following manner. When the preset temperature is reached, the sensing element will impart a magnetic field to the air inside the compartment. This magnetic field causes the switch to close and allow current to flow. If the temperature rises above the preset temperature, the sensing element will increase its magnetic field, causing the switch to open and disconnect the current. When the temperature falls below the preset temperature, the sensing element will decrease its magnetic field, causing the switch to open and disconnect the current.
In order to ensure accurate control of the temperature setting, the 21EN37-6B limit switch includes a number of safety features. The switch includes an adjustable over-temperature protection circuit which will shut off the power when the temperature exceeds a set limit. It also includes a current limiting device which helps to protect the switch from short circuits or other overloads. Additionally, the switch incorporates a self resetting thermal trip which allows the switch to activate and then reset itself once the preset temperature is reached.
The 21EN37-6B switch is designed to be used with a wide range of applications and can be connected to a variety of control systems and power supplies.
