The 23LC512-I/SN is a low-power, 512-Kbit Static Random Access Memory (SRAM) with an SPI/QSPI-compatible interface. It offers features such as byte and page write capability, selective block write protection, read identification, and write protection. This device has an extended temperature range of -40°C to +125°C which is suitable for automotive and industrial applications.

Working Principle

The 23LC512-I/SN operates with a single voltage supply of 2.7V-3.6V. It is organized as a single-plane, 512Kbit array with a continuous write, erase and re-use capability. The device supports a variety of commands provided through an SPI/QSPI-compatible interface which includes a synchronous parallel interface with an unlimited size register which can be used for data addressing. The device also offers features such as byte and page write capability, selective block write protection, read identification, and write protection.

The write operation is initiated by setting the write-enable bit in the status register. All bytes must be programmed within the same page. The device performs self-timed write operations and has a status register which can be used to monitor the progress of each write operation. The read operation is initiated by shifting the read-enable bit in the status register and then shifting the address which specifies the byte location to be read. The device performs self-timed read operations.

The 23LC512-I/SN also features memory-mapped addressing which allows for direct data manipulation as well as instruction or program code execution. It supports a Selective Block Protect feature which allows for block-by-block write protection. The device is also protected from uncontrolled write and erase operations.
