The data stored in it can be accessed through the two-wire I2C-compatible serial interface. The SDA line is used to transmit and receive serial data while the SCL line provides the serial clock signal that synchronizes data transfer. During a write operation, the bit rate of the data transfer must not exceed the maximum transfer rate specified in the device datasheet. However, during a read operation, the transfer rate may be higher, because the address is toggled only once.

The 24LC014H-E/ST although has simple architecture of a Serial Interface EEPROM, its application field does not limit to simple memory storage. It can be used to realize functions such as data backup, coded transmission and optical communication.
