Working Principles of the 24LC025T/ST

The 24LC025T/ST device uses the Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) protocol to communicate and store data from the memory device. This protocol uses a four-wire ‘synchronous serial data-link’ to write data to and read data from the device. The interface consists of four signal lines: a serial clock (SCLK), a slave select (SS), and serial data in (SI) and serial data out (SO). The device is enabled when the SS line is pulled low. Data is then clocked in by the master device on the SCLK line using the SI line to write data to the memory, while the SO line is used to read data from the device.

The 24LC025T/ST can store up to 2 Kilobytes of data and it is broken down into 128 pages each containing 16 bytes of data. The Memory organization of the 24LC025T/ST device is shown in the figure below.

For write operations, the master must first input the memory address in the memory device followed by the data. The SCLK line is then moved to the ‘write’ state and the data is written to the memory device. A ‘write complete’ status flag is then asserted and the SCLK is moved back to the ‘idle’ state. For read operations, the master must input the memory address followed by a ‘read’ command. The data is then moved to the SO line for the master to read. The SCLK is then moved back to the ‘idle’ state.

The 24LC025T/ST is a highly efficient and reliable memory device and it is used in a variety of applications.
