The 24LC04BHT-I/ST is a family of low power, serial EEPROM devices from Microchip. These small, low cost 8-pin devices are designed to provide non-volatile storage of data between power-on cycles and allow for random reads and writes, as long as the conditions for accessing the data are met. In order to ensure maximum reliability and data retention, the 24LC04BHT-I/ST is designed to use Dual Programming Methodology (TDPM). This ensures that data is programmed correctly the first time, so that there is no need to waste time and cost trying to reprogram the device.
The 24LC04BHT-I/ST device is commonly used in automotive applications such as engine control, transmission control and safety systems. This device is can also be used in industrial and consumer applications, such as household appliances, computers and cellular phones. With an operating voltage of 2.5-5.5V and a low power consumption of 0.8uA (CC), the 24LC04BHT-I/ST is a highly versatile device.
The 24LC04BHT-I/ST is a 4K (4096)Bit EEPROM that utilizes a two-wire serial interface for communication. The two-wire interface protocol is I2C bus compatible, allowing it to operate with up to 8 IC devices on a single bus. The device supports clock stretching, allowing for very slow operation, if needed. The 24LC04BHT-I/ST is capable of up to 100K cycles before write protect is required.
The 24LC04BHT-I/ST offers users the flexibility to choose their own data storage scheme, with up to three bytes of addressable memory per each 8-bit memory space. This allows users to assign unique addresses to each device in the network, as well as provide more flexible addressing of data within each device. It also supports write-protection of selected memory blocks, meaning users can make use of words, user defined registers and systems, with little extra programming.
The 24LC04BHT-I/ST is designed to offer a balance of high data retention and low power operation. It offers an integral 10-year data retention from 85ºC and a typical access time of 250µs. The 24LC04BHT-I/ST also provides low-power operation in two power modes: active mode and suspend mode. In normal operation, the device stays in active mode, consuming a typical 0.8uA (CC). When in suspend mode, the device consumes less than 200nA, providing a great reduction in system power consumption.
Due to their low power, reliability and cost efficiency, the 24LC04BHT-I/ST is ideal for embedded systems. It is a small, low-cost eight pin device, that offers an extendable serial interface for a range of applications. The 24LC04BHT-I/ST also provides low-power operation, with a standby current of less than 200nA, and a maximum read/write current of 2.4mA (max).
Furthermore, in terms of operation, the 24LC04BHT-I/ST supports an array of communication protocols relevant to a wide range of applications. It is compatible with I2C, SPI, UART, and parallel buses. It also offers sequential operation, allowing users to read and write multiple words with a single bus transaction. This simplifies the process of data exchange between devices, streamlining operations and increasing overall system efficiency.
