The 24LC256T-E/ST is a Member of cheap, low-power, serial electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) device operates on the two-wire I2C bus and provides 256K bits of memory storage. It can be addressed for "Write" and "Read" operations with an external 10K pull-up resistor to the 2.5V and 5V for VCC. With "Page Write" feature, the 24LC256T-E/ST can write up to 64 Bytes of data at a time for enhanced system productivity. It is suitable for many applications that require interpretation of data storage and retrieval such as remote display modules, sensor modules, entertainment systems, robotics and automation equipment, handheld test and measurement systems, personal digital assistants (PDAs), embedded controllers and automation equipment, Wired/wireless remote control systems, meters, imaging devices, toys and games, and many other general-purpose applications.
The 24LC256T-E/ST has very versatile memory segments with sequential read and "Random Read capabilities. The device is organized as 8K x 8 Bit and has an effective 4K-Block Write Protection. The block protection feature allows the write cycles to be segmented into two halves, the lower 128-byte block and the upper 128-byte block. The boundary lines of block protection are within the same internal page (00-7Fh). The upper 128-byte block can be either protected or unprotected depending on the application and user\'s requirement. The 24LC256T-E/ST comes with an internal self-timed write cycle. After the write command, the device automatically starts the write operation with a 4ms internal write cycle time. The EEPROM offers a Data Polling feature that allows a status check of the write cycle.
The 24LC256T-E/ST has an internal 8-byte page buffer which can store up to 8 bytes of data which is ready for either read or write operations. When writing data to the 24LC256T-E/ST, the data will be written to the page buffer first. Then, the data will be written to the EEPROM memories. This method is much faster for long data writes than writing the data to the EEPROM memories directly. The Page Write feature allows the user to write up to 8 bytes of data onto the EEPROM memory in a single write cycle with a 5ms internal write cycle time. The 24LC256T-E/ST also comes with a software lock feature. This feature allows the user to lock a block of memory in order to prevent any unwanted write operations.
The 24LC256T-E/ST also offers a wide temperature operating temperature range from -40°C to +125°C. This makes the device particularly suitable for space-constrained environments and applications such as Automotive, Aerospace, and Industrial applications. The Endurance and Data Retention characteristics of the 24LC256T-E/ST are also very good and make it suitable for many applications.
In summary, the 24LC256T-E/ST is a versatile, low-cost, low-power, serial electrically erasable programmable read-only memory. Its robust features and wide operating temperature range make it suitable for many general purpose applications.
