Application Field

Working Principle
The 25AA640/WF works in a very similar manner to regular EEPROMs, using a COMS interface. The operation of the 25AA640/WF is based on the shift register method, which requires only three wires for read and write operations. This method is less expensive and more elegant than the conventional method of address and data decoding combination.
In the 25AA640/WF, all devices are is connected serially, one device after the other. Data is transferred over the data line and is shifted to the left or right depending on the direction of the clock pulse. The devices are then addressed individually by a unique ID code. Each slave device possesses its own 64-bit ID code, allowing for up to 2^64 devices to be connected.
The three major operations of the 25AA640/WF are WRITE (storage), READ (access), and ERASE-ALL (reset), which are initiated via the CONTROL input line. The 25AA640/WF can function in three operating modes-:Standby mode, Write mode and Read mode. The device is always in standby mode except during write and read operations, when it will switch to the respective operating mode. It can also be put into an unconditional reset mode by asserting the hardware reset pin.
The 25AA640/WF is a non-volatile memory device and has the ability to store data permanently, even after the power has been removed.
