Tantalum Capacitors

A tantalum capacitor, sometimes called a tantalum electrolytic capacitor, is an electronic component that is used to store electrical charge. It is a type of electrolytic capacitor and consists of two electrodes separated by a layer of porous tantalum oxide. The tantalum oxide acts as the dielectric material. The two electrodes are usually made of tantalum metal and a conductive material, such as aluminum oxide. The porous dielectric layer allows current to pass through, while the tantalum oxide acts as an insulating layer. This allows the capacitor to store electrical energy for later use.
