Working Principle

The 2EZ200D5E3/TR12 is a Zener Single Diode that operates in a reverse-biased state. When the reverse voltage exceeds a certain threshold, called the Zener Voltage, the diode starts carrying current. The diode then acts as a clamping element, limiting the voltage across the device to the Zener Voltage, even if the reverse voltage continues to increase.

Once the maximum reverse voltage is reached, the diode stops conducting and the voltage across it returns to the original level. This is the principle behind the 2EZ200D5E3/TR12 and why it is an ideal solution for overvoltage protection and ESD protection.
