Aluminum - Polymer capacitors are a type of capacitor that consists of an aluminum (Al) anode protected by a dielectric layer made up of an Entex SE polymer. The SE polymer is a type of material specifically designed to tolerate the temperatures, the high voltages, and the constant movements associated with the various types of electronic components.
The Aluminum–Polymer Capacitor 2SLE100M is a capacitor that is used in the application fields of automotive and industrial power control, for energy storage and/or UPS, for data communications, for electric motors and for power supplies. The 2SLE100M is a very reliable capacitor, with a guaranteed voltage up to 500V, a high cycling life and a high ripple current. The capacitor has a capacitance range of 100-1000uF and a range of operating temperatures from -55 C to +85 C.
The working principle behind the Aluminum–Polymer Capacitor 2SLE100M is the same as other capacitors. A capacitor is made up of 2 conducting plates separated by a dielectric material. When a voltage is applied across the 2 plates, an electrical field is created and electricity is stored. The electric field dissipates when the voltage is removed, releasing the stored charge and discharging the capacitor.
The materials used to construct the Aluminum–Polymer Capacitor 2SLE100M are chosen to safely contain the electric charge. The Aluminum anode is immersed in the Entex SE polymer dielectric layer, which protects it from the high voltages and movements associated with electronic components. The capacitor also contains an Ultraphore layer to provide additional protection from voltage spikes.
