2SS52M are solid-state magnetic microswitches. These switches consists of two small magnetic zones, which works in conjunction with electromagnets. The magnetic zones are usually located within the two ends of a metal rod, while the electromagnets, placed in the middle, supply magnetic energy in the form of current to the two magnetic zones. When an external magnetic field is strong enough to overwhelm the electromagnetic fields created by the electromagnet, it causes the two magnetic zones to move closer together, resulting in a microswitch being activated.2SS52M may be used in a broad range of applications, including as interlock switches for elevators, door locks, window locks, machine safety switches, access control products, temperature and pressure sensors, as well as many other consumer and commercial applications. In industrial applications, these microswitches are often used as proximity sensors, which detect the presence of a metal object or armature in a confined area. This type of switch can also be used to detect the position of a rotating shaft, which can then be used to control the speed and power of a motor or other machinery.2SS52M use a combination of magnetic and mechanical principles to create a robust and reliable switch. As its magnetic zones move adjacent to each other, it creates a varying magnetic flux field and generates a signal when the external magnetic field reaches a certain level. By controlling the level of magnetic field, it can be used to detect various independent or combination of criteria such as when a component moves into or out of a restricted area or when a certain rotation speed is reached.In terms of construction, 2SS52M typically consists of two switch nodes with a gap in between (closed loop type). As the two nodes are separated by the gap, a certain amount of clearance is usually needed between them to ensure a reliable operation. When the external magnetic field strength is greater than the flux of the magnetic fields generated by the two nodes, the gap is closed, resulting in the microswitch being activated.The 2SS52M are also known for its low power consumption and durability. Both the switch nodes and the electromagnets are placed on the same circuit board, and this significantly reduces power consumption compared to its mechanical counterparts.
