In the open-drain switch configuration, each gate of the four switch elements is connected to a different logic input. When the logic signals applied to each gate are the same (logic “0” or logic “1”), all the switch elements are off and no current can flow through the device. However, when the logic signals applied to each gate are different (one logic “1” and three logic “0”, for example), the switch elements corresponding to the logic “1” will be on, allowing current to flow through the device.
