The Working Principle of the 3EZ5.1D10/TR8
When current passes through the 3EZ5.1D10/TR8 in reverse, the voltage across the diode will reach the Zener voltage (5.1V). At this point, the diode begins to conduct in reverse and the voltage across the diode will remain at the Zener voltage, regardless of the amount of current passing through it. This process is known as “zener breakdown”. The 3EZ5.1D10/TR8 will then begin to absorb the excess voltage and maintain a constant voltage across the diode. As the current passing through the diode increases, the power dissipated by the diode will also increase. However, the 3EZ5.1D10/TR8 is designed to limit the power dissipation to a maximum of 250mW, in order to ensure the diode does not damage itself.
The 3EZ5.1D10/TR8 is used in many different applications including voltage regulation circuits, switch-mode power supplies, surge protection circuits, and circuitry with high speed data signals.
