TVS-Diodes are typically used in ESD (electrostatic discharge) application, such as Ac power line and communication line protections. Among them, the 3KP48 series is extremely popular. In fact, it integrates two protective devices into one, namely, a fast-acting crowbar circuit and a voltage regulator, and an inductor to eliminate the ringing effect. The fast-acting crowbar starts at 50V, and it protects the device and the network from voltage and current surges. Besides, the voltage regulator helps to maintain the voltage below the maximum rating. The inductor is used in order to eliminate the transient ringing effect, and it prevents oscillations at higher frequencies.
Overall, the 3KP48C is an ideal device that offers a strong protection from ESD damage, surge protection, and overvoltage safety features on a small package. As a result, it has been widely accepted and used in many applications, such as computer systems, telecom, and consumer electronics.
