Terminal Blocks - Barrier Blocks
431501-19-0, also known as barrier blocks, are most commonly used as a connection terminal for power network devices such as lights and motors. Originally they were used in industrial applications such as control panels, but today they are becoming increasingly popular for commercial and home applications. Their primary purpose is to provide an electrically safe way of connecting two wires or conduits.
Barrier blocks are relatively simple pieces of hardware consisting of a block of insulating material and multiple sets of terminals. There are usually multiple sets which come in a variety of sizes, and the number of sets depends on the type of block and the intended application. The terminals are typically spring loaded and can accept a variety of wire gauges from 16AWG to 22AWG. The block also contains mounting holes allowing for various mounting options.
Barrier blocks are used to create a secure and safe electrical connection by splitting a single circuit into two distinct paths. This is done by connecting the power source to the positive and negative terminals on the block, and attaching the circuit wires to the terminals on the opposite side. By using barrier blocks it is possible to have multiple circuits connected to the power source while still ensuring a secure connection for each one.
Another advantage of barrier blocks is their ability to connect multiple high voltage wires in a single block. This is usually done using what is known as a jumper wire. A jumper wire is a wire that is inserted into the block and then connected to multiple terminals. This allows for a much more compact and efficient connection than using multiple blocks.
Barrier blocks are also designed with safety and convenience in mind. Each block is constructed of an insulated material such as PVC or Nylon that helps to prevent electric shock in the event of an accidental contact. Additionally, the terminal blocks are typically color coded to help easily differentiate between the positive and negative terminals.
Barrier blocks can also be used to securely connect wires to motors and lights. This is done by connecting the wire to the terminal block and then attaching the motor or light to the block with a set of screws. This will create a secure connection that will allow the current to flow to the motor or light.
The primary application for barrier blocks is in industrial control panels or in commercial lighting applications. However, they can also be used in various home applications such as on fish tanks, garage doors, and solar panels. No matter where they are used, they provide a secure and reliable means of connecting wires and other devices to a power source.
