48741-13 or also more commonly known as IEC 61850-13 is an information technology standard established by the International Electrotechnical Commission (or commonly known as the IEC). This is an international network communications standard for safely and reliably connecting distributed power generation and control systems using its Ethernet protocol. It defines the protocols, formats and conventions for the entire logical path for the power system from the master control and supervision system to the remote devices and actuators. It specifies the architecture, protocols, and procedures required for communications between substation devices with various systems such as network, operation supervision, protection and design tools.
The IEC 61850-13 standard is applicable to the field of communication between various control systems and the automation of electrical networks. It is the scope of this standard to define the network components, their communication services, the protocol stack and the engineering techniques used in the electrical network automation systems. Working Principle
