Optoisolators - Transistor, Photovoltaic Output

The 4N25FR2VM is a photovoltaic output optoisolator with a transistor output. Its primary application is isolating voltage sensitive circuits from voltage spikes and noise that can be generated when switches in series with an output circuit are closed or open. It is designed to withstand up to 250V peak input voltage.

An optoisolator (also called an optocoupler, photocoupler or optical isolator) is a device that provides electrical isolation between two circuits using a light-emitting diode (LED) and a photosensitive device in the same package. This allows current in one circuit to be completely isolated from currents in the other circuit, which is particularly useful in preventing damage to sensitive circuits.
