Optoisolators - Transistor, Photovoltaic Output form an important category of electrical isolation devices. High-voltage sections of the circuit are insulated from the low-voltage side. In a system, the input and the output are required to be optically isolated from each other. 4N26SR2VM is an optoisolator which establishes a bidirectional optical data transmission link between the elements of the system and helps in achieving electrical isolation between the two sections.4N26SR2VM comprises of a high power LED and a phototransistor. When an electrical current is passed through the LED, light is produced which is received by the phototransistor. The phototransistor then converts the optical signal to its corresponding electrical signal and drives the output. Similarly, when electrical current is passed through the phototransistor, an optical signal is generated that is received by the LED which in turn is converted to its corresponding electrical signal.4N26SR2VM is an all-in-one monochrome optocoupler. The LED is housed in an 8 pin dual in-line plastic package and is capable of switching up to 200mA when operated at a speed of 4.5MHz. This optocoupler is suitable for applications such as sensing circuits and signal transmission in consumer electronics, process control, motor- and instrumentation-control systems, and automation equipment.The phototransistor used in 4N26SR2VM offers high switching speeds and low rise and fall times, while its photodiode provides a very high input resistance. Furthermore, this optoisolator has an isolation voltage rating of up to 5.5kV and supports current ratings from 5mA to 20mA. This optoisolator is also designed to be resilient to shock, vibration, moisture, and electromagnetic interference.The working principle of 4N26SR2VM is based on the phenomenon of photoelectric effect. When an electrical current is passed through the LED, photons of light are emitted which are received by the phototransistor which converts the incident light into electrical current. The Phototransistor then drives the electrical current through it and the output is generated accordingly. Similarly, when electrical current is passed through the phototransistor, the Phototransistor generates a corresponding optical signal which is transmitted to the LED and converted into electrical current.4N26SR2VM can be used in a number of different applications such as in signal transmission in consumer electronics, process control, motor- and instrumentation-control systems, and automation equipment. It can also be used in lighting control systems as well as in the manufacturing process of semiconductors. Additionally, this optoisolator can be used to optically isolate both AC and DC signals from each other and thus protect the circuitry from any damage due to short circuits, spikes, or other similar events.In conclusion, 4N26SR2VM is an advanced and high performance optoisolator which established a bidirectional optical data transmission link between the elements of the system and helps in achieving electrical isolation between the two sections. It has an isolation voltage rating of up to 5.5kV and supports current ratings from 5mA to 20mA. Moreover, it features high-speed switching, low rise and fall times, and is resistant to shock, vibration, moisture, and electromagnetic interference.
