It operates using a combination of a light source, a photovoltaic cell, and a transistor as the output circuitry device. The 4N323SD is a surface mount isolated transistor output (SM-ITO) optoisolator providing very fast switching speeds up to 4.5Mhz. It features a signal-saturation voltage up to 500V output, 12-20V current transfer ratio, and a voltage transfer ratio up to 45V.The 4N323SD has two input pins that are connected to the receiving device or a voltage source. When the input voltage is applied, the onboard photovoltaic cell will convert the electrical signals into light signals. The light signals will then be directed to the light emitting diode (LED) located in the optoisolator. The light is then converted back into electrical signals that are sent to the output. The output side consists of a transistor that is connected to the output device.The 4N323SD has two types of operation modes – direct output and saturation output. In direct output mode, the optoisolator will maintain the input signal voltage as the output voltage while decreasing the output current. This is beneficial for applications where the input current is expected to remain constant. In saturation output mode, the optoisolator will maintain the input signal voltage as the output current which will decrease with increases in the output voltage. This is beneficial for applications where the input voltage is expected to remain constant.The 4N323SD optoisolator provides a high performance solution for applications where electrical isolation of the input and output signal is essential. It is an ideal solution for applications with high speed response times, voltage transfer ratios up to 45V, and current transfer ratios up to 12-20V. The 4N323SD optoisolator is also an excellent choice for applications where low-voltage and high-current signals need to be circuit-isolated. Its combination of fast switching speeds, low power consumption, and a wide operating temperature range make it a preferred choice for many applications.
