Fixed inductors are electronic components which are used to store energy in an electrical field. The most common type of fixed inductor is the 5512-RC, a single-phase, inductance-coupled resistor-capacitor (RC) circuit. In this circuit, an alternating current (AC) is applied to a winding of tightly wound wire, creating an electromagnetic field which induces an opposite voltage in a second coil.
