HSCH-5512

The HSCH-5512 is an RF Schottky diode optimized for low-loss, high-speed use in Radio Frequency (RF) and microwave applications. It is a low capacitance device that is rated for operation up to 5 GHz, making it a valuable component for amplifier designs that require high linearity and speed. Its high-frequency capabilities also make it suitable for use in other frequency converters, oscillators, switches, and other applications.

The HSCH-5512 has a reverse blocking voltage of 70 volts with a reverse current leakage of 0.14 mA maximum. It also has an on-state resistance of 0.05 Ω, which is ideal for low-noise amplification. The diode’s working principle is based on the depletion layer at a PN junction. When two layers of semiconductor material with either opposite doping types, or a heavy doping and a light doping, the junction creates a depletion layer. This depletion layer is a region that is devoid of electron-hole pairs and therefore, offers a large resistance to current flow. When a sufficient voltage is applied to a PN junction, the depletion layer reduces and current can flow through the diode.

In the HSCH-5512, two metal contacts are implanted on the heavily doped semiconductor layer to form what is essentially a metal-semiconductor junction. The HSCH-5512 is designed to provide an extremely low junction resistance, allowing high switching frequencies and high-speed operation. The PN junction also acts as a rectifier, passing the directional bias current and blocking the reverse bias current.

Due to its low capacitance and low on-state resistance, the HSCH-5512 diode can be used in many high-frequency applications and circuits. Some of these include high-frequency power amplifiers, microwave detectors, RF switches and Synthesizers, oscillators, and frequency converters.
