D-shaped connectors, or Centronics, are widely used in computer and printer field for electrical power and communication applications, and have been an integral part of the computing world for many decades. Designed by American engineer Louis E. Centron, these connectors are named after the Centronics Data Computer Corporation, founded by Centron in the early 1970s. The D-shaped Centronics connector has a somewhat unique shape and contour, with a flat side and a round side.
