Working Principle
588R100X2IAT oscillator is a low-cost two-pin device that uses a ceramic resonator for its frequency-determining element and is based on the Pierce oscillator architecture. It has two frequency operating modes for low-cost usage, namely AT and BT. The AT version requires higher power supply current. On the other hand, the BT version has lower power supply current consumption.

To enable a frequency output, two inputs are provided at each section of the device. One input controls the oscillator frequency (RXOSC pin) and the other determines the frequency of the output pulse (FS2 pin). The RXOSC pin is provided with two operating modes: drive and calibration. In drive mode, the RXOSC pin is connected to the external drive signal on the IC, the output frequency is set and adjusted by the internal drive circuit. In calibration mode, the input signal at the RXOSC pin is used to drive the output signal, and the output frequency is determined by the supplied input voltage.

The output signal is generated by the internal logic of the IC, which consists of an Amplifier, Comparator, D-Type Flip-Flop and a 1kHz divider. This circuit allows the 588R100X2IAT oscillator to operate at a variety of frequencies and output waveforms.

The AT version also features a supply voltage-measuring input (VIN pin) which helps to measure the supply voltage for further accuracy. This input is connected to the internal clock which adjusts the frequency stability with the help of a resistor divider circuit.

The 588R100X2IAT oscillator has a fairly wide operating voltage range of 3V to 18V and can operate at temperatures range between -55°C and +125°C. This facilitates its usage in a large number of application areas which require stable, temperature-compensated clock frequencies.
