The 5KP100A is designed to protect installations from damaging electrical transients by quickly clamping the high voltage pulses. The surge current can dissipate over a wide voltage range, reducing wear and tear on delicate circuitry caused by high voltage transients.The 5KP100A functions by using a combination of two back-to-back Zener diodes. During a surge, one of the diodes will conduct and clamp the transient at the breakdown voltage of that diode. This reduces the voltage stress on the system and prevents damage to sensitive components.The 5KP100A also features a low leakage current characteristic, so it can be used even for sensitive applications.
