TVS-Diodes (Transient Voltage Suppression Diodes) protect sensitive electronic and electrical equipment from electrical transients. These transients take many forms, such as electrostatic discharge, lightning strikes, and high dV/dt transients. TVS-Diodes work by clamping the voltage to a safe level without consuming significant power or generating inordinate amounts of heat. It has a threshold voltage of 26V and is designed to protect against transients up to 600kV/μs.

This, in turn, prevents the sensitive component from damage due to excessive current spike. After the transient is extinguished, the diode automatically returns to its non-conducting state.

5KP26 is an extremely valuable component in systems that require enhanced protection against high transient voltage and dV/dt events.
