Working Principle

The 5MCLS-3R-B fuse contains a cylindrical shape. Inside the cylindrical shape, a capsule is filled with a non-conductive material and a metal fuse element made from nickel, copper, or silver. When the current passes through the fuse element, it produces over-heating and melts the fuse element.

Once the fuse element has been melted, a spring mechanism pushes a plug up from the fuse to break the circuit. This opening of the circuit halts the current flow and thus protects the load from overload or short circuits. Additionally, when replacing the fuse, the plug will reset the spring and reset the fuse mechanism.
