Snap action, limit switches are devices usually used to operate electrical circuits and offer a reliable way of setting a defined limit to a process. 5XE1-T is a type of limit switch designed for various temperature measurement applications. When the temperature of an area increases, one of the metals will expand more than the other and thus, the strip will bend. This bending creates a separating point which triggers the switch.

The 5XE1-T has two types of contacts; normally open contacts have a “break-on-rise” action, meaning they open when the temperature rises, and contacts that are normally closed contacts have a “close-on-rise” action, meaning they close when the temperature rises. When using the “break-on-rise” action, the contacts open when the set temperature is exceeded, cutting the circuit. When using the “close-on-rise” action, the contacts close the circuit when the set temperature is exceeded and the switch is triggered.

The 5XE1-T switch is designed with a red light indicator that can help detect if the switch is open or closed. The red light turns on when the switch is open and turns off when it is closed. This feature can be useful in applications where a signal is required to be sent or a process needs to be monitored closely.
