This principle is mainly used in applications such as train tickets, hotel access cards, magazine subscriptions and toll collection. The tags read by an RFID reader are typically equipped with read-only areas, which contain data such as a customer’s identification or subscription number. This principle is thus typically used when a customer places an order with a particular supplier and the supplier assigns a tag with a unique code that can link the product to the customer.

Principle 3: Cipher Lock Principle

This principle is mainly used in applications such as baggage handling, secure access control and other applications requiring highly secure authentication. In such scenarios, the tags contain an encrypted key which can only be decrypted by an RFID reader with the right decryption algorithm and credentials. The tag and reader may also be set up to use biometric data such as a fingerprint or face scan for authentication.

Overall, the application fields and working principles of RFID transponders and tags differ depending on their purpose. Depending on the purpose, there may be several working principles that can be used, and the technology should be carefully tailored to the specific application field. Nonetheless, the principles discussed above provide an overview of the different ways in which RFID transponders and tags can be used.
