Its usual application field is related to high-power motor drives, welding, and uninterrupted power supplies, as it presents an excellent rectification capability, low power dissipation, and fast switching speed. Application Field

Having a total of six diodes connected in a positive-negative symmetric configuration, the 60CNQ035 diode array offers high power rectification for both single- and three-phase AC-input applications. As such, it is typically used in high power motor drives, power converters, and electronic welding machines, but also in UPS, solar/wind energy, and related applications that require accurate and secure rectification.

For example, the 60CNQ035 operation is ideal for a simple three-phase 220V AC to DC converter, where the three-phase power source is rectified to DC by this diode array. Batteries, the output of solar/ wind harvesting systems, can also be recharged with the 60CNQ035. Additionally, the diode array has the advantage of presenting a very short reverse recovery time compared to Schottky diodes and other traditional rectifiers.

Working Principle

The 60CNQ035 operates with two power supplies, a regulated 12V and a more powerful 48V. Thus, the rectification efficiency increases with the addition of a secondary rectifier (that can handle higher amounts of current) with the 12V supply, achieving higher efficiency and number of switched cycles within the usual operating temperature range (–55°C to 175°C).

In addition to the 12V power voltage, the 60CNQ035 offers protection against transient reverse-voltage conditions, protection against forward leakage current, and a minimum on-resistance. The forward voltage drop of this rectifier is also considerably low compared to traditional diodes, providing a safer operation.

The current flow during the 60CNQ035 rectification process is usually outputting the 6 diodes of the array in pairs. Thus, the three AC power inputs are combined into one DC output. This has the advantage that the peak currents of the three-phase sources are almost equally balanced in the DC output, reproducing the same conditions of a center-tapped transformer without the actual physical transformer.
