The 66PQ040 is a single diode rectifier integrated circuit fabricated with an advanced alloy–oxide passivated junction field-effect transistor process. It is intended for use in general purpose switching and low voltage rectification. This rectifier features low leakage current and low forward voltage drop.The 66PQ040 has a low maximum forward voltage of 0.52 volts, a low capacitance of 2.7 pF and a peak reverse current of 18mA. It is capable of operation at frequencies up to 100kHz. The operating temperature range of the 66PQ040 is -55°C to +105°C.Applications of the 66PQ040 include: DC-DC converters, audio amplifiers, power supplies, solid-state relays, switching regulators, AC-DC converters, and LED signage power supplies. The working principle of the 66PQ040 is based on its structures of a junction field-effect transistor (JFET). A JFET is a type of field-effect transistor that uses electric field control to modify the conductivity of a channel created between two electrodes, known as the source and the drain. When a voltage is applied across the drain and the source, the electrons in the channel are attracted towards the positive terminal, creating a current in the channel. This current continues to flow through the channel until the electric field created by the voltage between the drain and the source is dissipated. At this point, the electrons no longer flow and the channel converts back to its high-resistance state.The 66PQ040 is an ideal device for high speed switching and rectification applications. Its low leakage current and low forward voltage drop make it suitable for low voltage applications. Moreover, its low capacitance makes it highly effective for applications such as DC-DC converters, audio amplifiers, and power supplies.
