The 7142-12-1001 model is a type of reed relay, which has some intermediate properties between a typical transistor-transistor logic (TTL) IC and a higher performance signal logic IC. It is better known as the "state-of-the-art" version of a reed relay, which offers better temperature stability, faster switching time, longer life expectancy, and superior noise properties when compared to other types of relays.
