Rectangular Connectors - Headers, Receptacles, Female Sockets are essential components for any telecom, data and electronic applications that require high-speed signal connections. The 71991-302HLF connector offers excellent performance for applications such as audio/video, computer and telecom equipment, for various types of cables including coaxial and multi-conductor cables.

This connector is designed with a plug and receptacle mating pair which interconnects through a board-to-board or cable-to-board connection. The receptacle portion provides a secure connection between printed circuit boards (PCBs) and the plug portion of the threaded cable mount. It is also suitable for applications where the cable supports the connector on one end and the PCB on the other as well as flexible assemblies. It features a ground contact shield which helps to minimize EMI and enhance data integrity.

The 71991-302HLF connector features press fit contacts and is equipped with a thermoplastic latch, which makes it easy to install in tight spaces. The latch helps to ensure a proper connection while preventing accidental disconnection. It also features an off-center reverse blind-mating design which eliminates the chance of mismating. The male pins on the plug are staggered, preventing the pins from engaging simultaneously which reduces mechanical stress on the pins and connects them securely.

This connector is designed for use in high-speed Data and Telecom applications. It features male and female contacts which are both gold plated and rated for up to 5A (maximum) current. The contact resistance is 50 mΩ Max, and the insulation resistance is 500 megohms (min). It supports temperatures from -55ºC (-67°F) to +125ºC (+257ºF) and operates in humidity from 0-100%.

The 71991-302HLF connector is also designed for quick and simple assembly. All parts are RoHS-compliant and the connector is UL94V-0 rated. It is also UL CA approved and complies with CSA Class 2102 standards.

The working principle of the 71991-302HLF connector is based on a press fit type contact. Insertion of the plug into the receptacle creates a physical contact between the two connectors and a corresponding connection on the PCB. This enables the electrical connection between the two ends of the connector while maintaining a secure connection. The plug and receptacle sections are held together with a latch or threaded connection. The latch helps to prevent accidental disconnection, while the threaded connection holds the plug and receptacle in place for improved connection reliability.
