Working Principle

72421L10PF provides a logic family to offer high speed and deep FIFOs. It utilizes dual port memory units to create a FIFO buffer. Data is transferred between input and output ports with as few as two bus cycles.

The FIFO includes two read and write ports. The ports are isolated from each other so that data can be transferred quickly and accurately with minimum latency. Data stored on one port is separated from the data stored on the other port. The FIFO can store up to 16K words of data in each port.

The FIFO features an asynchronous, programmable-depth write port and an autonomous, programmable-depth read port. When the FIFO is enabled, data is written on the write port, while data is read from the read port. Each port can be independently configured to read or write data with two bus cycles. This allows for a high rate of data transfer.

In addition to the read and write ports, the FIFO can also be connected to an external FIFO for quick storage of large amounts of data. The FIFO can be configured to transfer data from the connected FIFO to the read port of the FIFO for efficient processing.

The FIFO also features two types of error-correction algorithms, which can be applied to the data stored on the FIFO. The first error-correction algorithm is an 8-bit error-correction code that verifies the data stored on the FIFO is free of errors. The second algorithm is an 8-bit Reed-Solomon code to detect errors in the data.

The FIFO also features a timer that can be used to keep track of the time elapsed between reads and writes on the FIFO. This can be used to prevent data loss in case of a power outage or system failure.
