The 74AC374PC is an octal D-type flip-flop with complementary outputs that are designed to be used in logic circuits which require low propagation delay. It has 8 data inputs, 8 data outputs, one clock input (CK), and 8 control inputs (CE and nCE). There is also a Set input (S) and a Reset input (R) which will set or reset all the flip-flops to either a 0 or 1 state respectively, regardless of the state of the clock. The 74AC374PC also has a cycle operation feature. This allows the user to have the outputs of one stage drive the inputs of the next. This can be done by connecting the Q0* output of the first stage to the D7input of the next stage and the Q7 output of the first stage to the D0 input of the next stage, so that the output of the first stage will be shifted to the right, and the output of the second stage will be shifted to the left. When the CK is low and CE is high, it allows the input to be accepted and stored on the rising edge of CK. When the CK is low, the output will remain unchanged until the rising edge of CK which will cause the output to change to the state of the data input. When the CK is high, the internal circuit will reset itself based on the value of the SET and RESET inputs. When SET is low and RESET is high, all of the flip-flops will be set to a logical “1”. When SET is high and RESET is low, all of the flip-flops will be set to a logical “0”. The 74AC374PC can also be used for synchronous parallel transceiving operations. In this mode, each D input is connected to the corresponding Q output. This allows for data to be shifted from one flip-flop to the other on each rising edge of the clock.Conclusion
