The 74AC648SC is a high-performance octal bus transceiver and non-inverting buffer IC from the 74AC logic family. It contains eight non-inverting buffer/line drivers with 3-state outputs and octal D-type latch/buffer with complementary outputs. This device provides the most compact solution for bus-oriented applications.
Application Field
The 74AC648SC is widely used in data buses, address buses, control buses, bus-oriented memory expansion, I/O expansion, and other systems requiring multiplexed data flow. It is compatible with most TTL systems and is designed to replace larger latch/buffer/transmitter configurations. The octal 3-state buffers are ideal for high-speed logic-level distribution networks that require medium-to-high fan-out. With the 74AC648SC, multiple lines of bus-oriented data can be efficiently distributed on multiple boards.
Working Principle
The 74AC648SC receives data from the bus, latches it in the eight buffers, and passes it on to the outputs. The octal latch/buffer is designed to provide a high data-retention rate, isolation from system noise, and has high-impedance current-sinking capability. It also provides symmetrical control-input characteristics which eliminate input setup and hold times.
The bus input uses inverters with hysteresis which automatically increases the noise immunity of the device. The inverters have a fast switching time that allows direct connections to host bus systems. The bus output circuits are high-performance 3-state transceivers that have an ennable/disable input which allows the user to override the data inputs.
The output circuits also feature three-state outputs that can switch at a data rate of up to 30 MHz. This makes the 74AC648SC ideal for high-speed logic-level distribution networks. The 3-state outputs also provide a low-impedance drive capability which allows long bus lengths without signal degradation.
