The 74ACT240MTR is specially designed application field and working principle from Fairchild Semiconductor. It is focusing on offering a high speed, low-power substitute for bus-oriented MOS parts. This application field of IC is one of the logical devices and it falls into the Logic – Buffers, Drivers, Receivers, Transceivers. To put it concisely, this device provides eight buffers with three-stated outputs.

The 74ACT240MTR is provided with an integrated c l o c k b o o s t c i r c u i tr y f o r improved noise immunity. It also provides a very low output capacitance. This device contains eight buffers with three-stated outputs and is designed to be used in same manner as the equivalent 74ALS241, 74LS241 and 74HCT241.

The output will be active whenever the state of the corresponding input is “B” for one of the outputs and “A” for the other outputs. The output will remain active, regardless of the state of the clock signal, until the clear or reset signal is activated.

Apart from that, this device usually drawing low current with a valid input. It means that this device can be operated in extreme temperature environment. In general, this device only require power supply of 5V and operate in a valid voltage range from 2V to 10V.
