Working Principle

The 74AHC157PW-Q100J consists of four multiplexers/demultiplexers and two single-output enables. Each multiplexer/demultiplexer performs switching functions with two single-bit input and two single-bit output lines. The output of each multiplexer/demultiplexer is controlled by the two inputs, A and B. When both A and B are low, the multiplexer/demultiplexer is enabled, allowing the data from one in put line to be switched to the output line.The single-output enables are used to control the operation of the device. The I1 and I2 inputs control the multiplexer/demultiplexer outputs, and the single-output enable (OE) selects whether or not the device is enabled. When OE is high, the device is enabled and data can be output. When OE is low, the device is disabled and no output data is produced. The device can also be used as an encoder, where two or more inputs are used to generate a single output. By setting one of the binary inputs to a high value while the other is at low value, the encoder will produce an output corresponding to the combination of these values. Similarly, the 74AHC157PW-Q100J can be used as a decoder, where a single input is used to determine which of up to four output lines is activated.
