Logic - Flip FlopsThe 74AHC74D-Q100J is a high-speed, low-power dual D flip-flop integrated circuit with complementary outputs and two data (D0 and D1) inputs designed to exchange data between two separate systems. It was designed to interface with either positive or negative logic inputs and outputs. Its low power consumption makes it ideal for applications that require minimal current consumption, and its high switching speeds make it useful for applications requiring high transition speeds.The 74AHC74D-Q100J is a 2-bit asynchronous flip-flop, meaning it does not require any external clock signal to operate. Instead, its operation is based on the changes in the data inputs. When one of the data inputs is changed, the output of the flip-flop is immediately changed. Changes in the flip-flop’s outputs can be monitored by observing the complementary outputs of the flip-flop (Q and QBAR).Due to its low power consumption and high switching speed, the 74AHC74D-Q100J is ideal for use in numerous applications. It can be used in logic-based systems to store and process data, in digital logic functions to store and transfer data, as a clock divider or doubling device, or as a shift register. In addition to these applications, the 74AHC74D-Q100J can also be used in pulse or frequency-sensitive applications, such as for a time-delay, time-trigger, or mod-N counter.The 74AHC74D-Q100J can be used as a binary counter in a logic-based sequential circuit. When connected to an external clock, it will toggle each time a pulse is received. This can be used for counting or for time-delay, time-trigger, or mod-N counter operations.In a logic-based system, the 74AHC74D-Q100J can act as an addressable memory element. When a logic signal is sent to the address lines of the flip-flop, the data stored in the flip-flop is read out of the registers associated with those address lines. This enables the 74AHC74D-Q100J to be used within a larger system to access and store data.Finally, the 74AHC74D-Q100J can be used as a shift register. When a data input is applied and the clock is pulsed, the data is shifted and stored in the registers associated with the clock lines.
