This device combines a fractional-N phase-locked loop (PLL) and a clock synthesis block in a single chip solution to deliver reliable, low-jitter clock synchronization, and spread-spectrum clocking solutions with very flexible options to meet the requirements of various applications.Features:

The 74FCT388915TBJG8 is designed to serve a wide range of clock generation and frequency synthesis requirements. Its built-in advanced features include a fractional-N divider, fractional-N synthesizer, VCO control logic and loop filter, as well as high frequency range and low jitter/phase noise performance descriptors.The device operates in four modes: system clock generator, MOSFET frequency synthesizer, low frequency synthesizer and spread spectrum mode. In the system clock generator mode, the device can generate a low jitter clock signal of up to 75 MHz with programmable or fixed frequency and center spread. In the spread spectrum mode, the device can generate a spread spectrum clock signal of up to 75 MHz with programmable center frequency, depth and clock phase down spread. In the MOSFET frequency synthesizer mode, the device can generate a low jitter clock with incremental frequency steps and limited frequency range.In the low frequency synthesizer mode, the device can generate a low jitter clock with low frequency range of up to 32 kHz for system sleep mode and low power operations.The PLL features an active loop filter structure which divides the reference frequency and VCO output frequency via the fractional divider in the block. The PLL filter can be programmed with different bandwidth values to control and eliminate jitter. The filter also provides for a smooth frequency change when the input reference frequency is changed.The 74FCT388915TBJG8 has a digital control interface (DCI) with up to 8 bits of programmability. The DCI can be used to program the device with various parameters to optimize devices’ performance and customize it to meet different application requirements.
