A 74HC390PW,112 is a dual-frequency, high-speed, programmable, low-power CMOS divide-by-N divider IC. It includes two full-integrated logic circuit elements; a dual-frequency frequency divider, an asynchronous resetter, and an external progamming terminal. This IC can count up/down by 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 and 68. It provides a maximum frequency of 48 MHz, a maximum output load capacitance of 2000 pF, and a maximum input load capacitance of 30 pF.

Working Principle:

The 74HC390PW,112 is composed of two independent frequency dividers, each of which is a dual complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) N-stage divide-by-N divider with separate outputs of the frequency dividers. The upper frequency dividers contain seven stages and are programmable in 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 and 68 divisions. The lower frequency dividers consist of three stages and are programmable in 2, 4 and 8 divisions.The divider ratio of each stage is determined by the programmed input pin (F1 and F2). The output of the upper frequency divider is coupled with the reset pin (RES) of the lower frequency divider to control the input and output of the lower frequency divider.The reset pin of the upper frequency divider can be powered by an external reset pin ( RES1 and RES2) or internally generated by connecting the “RST” pin to a power source.
