Each analog switch possesses a single pole double throw (SPDT) action which can be actuated by a digital input. The device has 8 selectable analog inputs and one output.
Application Field
74HCT4852BQ is mainly used in audio applications. It can be used in the isolation of an analog signal path between applications like headset amplifiers, data converters and so on. The device is perfect for applications which require to isolate the input path from expensive transducers components. It can also be used to reduce the amount of switching components necessary to achieve the same task in audio applications. Additionally, 74HCT4852BQ is suitable for applications like simulator input switching.
Working Principle
The 74HCT4852BQ multiplexer is composed of 8 analog switches each actuated by the A, B & C address inputs. When applied with a logic low (0V) on a selected address, the analog switch associated with the address is enabled and the specific analog input is routed to the common output. When all address inputs are logically high (5V) then all the analog switches are off. This device is capable of handling an analog voltage of up to 5V.
When the data input is a logic 0 the switches are in the closed position, while a logic 1 will keep the switches open. When the data input is left open or floating the switches will automatically close. Additionally, it is possible to connect the data input with a PWM signal. This will accept any mV amplitude and switch on/off over time.
74HCT4852BQ is characterized by a large signal range which makes it suitable for audio applications with high-impedance listening transducers. This device is also capable of managing frequencies up to 450 kHz. By using this device, it is possible to reduce the number of analog switches from 8 to 1, meaning the PCB space requirement is greatly decreased.
