It is a 2-channel, 4-bit multiplexer/data selector, with an enhanced data mode that allows expanded switching of two dependent bits at the speed of a 4-bit selection operation. A logic high on its enable pin will select the \'A\' input lines, while a logic low will select the \'B\' input lines.

The 74LVC257APW logic family is designed to provide level translation of various logic levels, allowing for multiple components to be connected to the same device. For example, the data paths can operate from 1.65V to 2.7V, while the output will be held at 2.5V or below. This allows interfacing with 3.3V CMOS components, while supporting legacy 5V logic.
